About Me

I am a self-taught basket weaver. I was living in Kenya working with farmers on climate smart agriculture and visiting my sister in Oxford, MS when the COVID-19 shutdown happened. I ended up spending 6 months in Oxford working remotely and I decided to teach myself a new skill.

I have never thought of myself as a particularly artistic person but I chose to learn basket weaving because I have always appreciated functional art and I thought it might be something I could pick up quickly. Boy, was I wrong!

Warhol Weavings has been a labor of love for the past few years as I have really committed to weaving regularly, experimenting with designs and colors and making baskets that I think are worthy to be called functional art. I am now living back in the United States but the organization I started in Kenya remains and I use to basket proceeds to supports on-going tree planting efforts.

I invite you to check out my current collection. I also sell at local art and craft fairs so sign up for my newsletter for discount and new basket announcements. I also love making custom baskets so please reach out if you don't see exactly what you need at larisa@gecaction.org
